Sitges celebrates the International Artists Day every October 23 to commemorate the arrival of Santiago Rusiñol in the town. Like every year, the museums of Sitges have programmed various activities to celebrate the anniversary and, at the same time. On this occasion, there will also be some cultural activities between Friday 20 and Sunday 22 October. One of the most outstanding proposals will be, once again, a guided route by the studies and workshops of different artists and craftsmen, on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning - to show the visitors that their artistic connection with Sitges as an inspiration. Beyond the curiosity to delve into the creative corners of the artists, it will give you a close contact with them behind a work of art. The intention is to show the mood, the method of work, the motivations, the sources of inspiration, the anxieties or the satisfactions that end up being expressed in the art.
During the International Artists Day you can visit the follwoingexhibition to complete your cultural day: the exhibition Ramon Pichot, De Los Cuatro Gatos en la Maison Rose, en el Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña; the exhibition El mundo de Giorgio de Chirico, Sueño o realidad, at CaixaForum; and the exhibition El infierno según Rodin, at la Fundación MAPFRE.
The last act of the International Artists Day in Sitges will be, already on Sunday, the family workshop "we paint like the modernists". The session wants to pay tribute to Santiago Rusiñol and his passion for collecting and handmade works. The attendees will be able to design and paint modernist tiles that the artists used.
