Gastrofestival Madrid 2018

This year Madrid Gastrofestival 2018 will focus in particular on Madrid´s markets, with tapas and wine tastings as well as an endless range of activities. Vallehermoso Market will host the meetings that will describe how to make natural drinks and teas as well as exotic dishes, in addition to offering basic nutrition advice. Los Mostenses Market will treat customers to a Perfect Selection of Seafood and Barceló Market will do the same with a Flower Experience, a set menu consisting of flowers and organic ingredients. Gastronomic workshops will be an essential component of the programme at Antón Martín Market, where there will be a class taught by grandparents and another one aimed at children. Mercamadrid will also take part in this new edition of Madrid Gastrofestival 2018, with a guided tour by chef Juan Pozuelo, who will share his knowledge and passion for ingredients and markets with participants.
This year 21 museums will be taking part in Madrid Gastrofestival 2018. Among them is the Decorative Arts Museum, which will offer guided tours of its beautiful 18th-century Valencian kitchen, along with an enticing extra treat: on-site tasting of hot chocolate from Chocolatería San Ginés. Círculo de Bellas Artes will also be participating in the festival, with 2 exhibitions: Chefs to Face, featuring photographs by Roberto Ranero (20 January to 20 February), and Gypsy Women, featuring portraits of women that will be paired with a set menu of traditional gypsy dishes (20 January to 4 February, at La Pecera).
As usual, Conde Duque Cultural Centre will also offer a special programme during Madrid Gastrofestival 2018. At Barroco Glam, expert artisans will give their opinions during a wine and cheese tasting session that will be accompanied by unique music and staging of Ars Divina (24 and 25 January). On the 26th of January 6 winemakers will go head to head in an epic battle, speaking about grapes, flavours, aromas, soil… Another event will be held on the 1st and 2nd of February: the Socratic Tasting, a wine tasting and collaborative philosophy. Conde Duque will also showcase films such as Ratatouille, Haute Cuisine, Amarcord and Soul Kitchen in their original languages with Spanish subtitles.
The GastroDeco section will bring Architectural Tapas to Madrid Gastrofestival 2018, served on various surfaces created by architects and designers at COAM´s headquarters, and Workshop: Food & Crafts, which will be held in the studio of designers Marre Moerel and Pablo del Barrio. The aim is to teach people to find new forms of culinary creation based on the techniques of traditional trades (ceramics, leather, wood).
One of the most notable new initiatives of Madrid Gastrofestival 2018 is Solidarity Gastrofestival: a percentage of the money earned by a large number of restaurants will be donated to Action Against Hunger.
