Totem: Behind the Scenes is an exhibition produced exclusively for the Totem show that takes the audience on a journey through human evolution. The exhibition brings clothes, decorations and elements from some of the most emblematic shows of Cirque du Soleil, as well as audiovisual pieces that show details of the process of creating their productions. Two of the costumes that can be seen there used to represent the shows Alegría and Saltimbanco. They are pieces that come out for the first time from their offices in Montreal.
In the exhibition Totem: Behind the Scenes you can also discover the plaster heads that were made for each artist who enrolled in Cirque du Soleil. These curious pieces were used before the computerization to help the dressmakers to have the measures at hand while making hats, wigs or headdresses for the actors. The exhibition also contains unpublished photographs of the early years and some curious facts about it.
Founded in 1984 in Quebec, Cirque du Soleil is today a true giant in the world of entertainment. If 30 years ago it was just a dream of a small community of street artists, today it is an international company that has had more than 150 million spectators in more than 400 cities where its 35 great shows have been performed. Totem: Behind the Scenes can be visited until February 4 for free at Disseny Hub. Do not miss this opportunity to enjoy Barcelona in the winter and get to know the city better with Homes in Blue!
