WorldPressPhoto Barcelona

World Press Photo 2018 once again turns Barcelona into one of the famous cities in the world where the winning photographs of the prestigious photojournalism prize are shown and one of the few cities to display the winning works of this digital narrative contest. The 14th edition of the international World Press Photo exhibition will be held by the CCCB (Contemporary Culture Centre). Organised by the Fundació Photographic Social Vision, the exhibition includes a comprehensive programme of parallel activities and guided tours. For a perfect holiday, get the most unique experience with BE Apartment in the best luxury apartments in Barcelona and other cities, for your security, pleasure and comfort.
Under the slogan "To see and to understand", World Press Photo 2018 mainly shows works previously unpublished in Spain, offering access to unmanipulated stories, enriching the different points of view on current affairs. For the first time ever, the Fundació World Press Photo has presented 6 photographs nominated to win this year’s World Press Photo Prize, opening up a debate regarding which is the most representative photo of 2018. This reflection will remain valid after the official announcement of the winning image and over the course of the exhibition, where the 6 photographs will be particularly prominent.
For 6 decades, the World Press Photo Foundation has been working from its headquarter in Amsterdam as a creative, independent, nonprofit organization. In that time, the world has changed continuously, and new technologies in the media have transformed journalism and storytelling. The mission has expanded, and they draw on the experience to guide visual journalists, storytellers, and audiences around the world through this challenging and exciting landscape. For the World Press Photo 2018, 134 winning photographs were chosen from the 73,044 images submitted to the contest, conducted by 4,548 photographers from 125 countries. Spain is the 4th country in the world after China, the United States and Italy that has submitted 229 nominations.
