Corpus Christi is celebrated on Thursday (May 31 this year), which is always a festive day. The streets will be decorated for the occasion and an altar will be estabilished at the Plaza de San Francisco with 2 large commemorative arches. Streets, houses and shop windows will be adorned with various altars, shawls and rosemary branches. It is one of the most important religious celebrations in Sevilla, dating back to antique origins and devotion, that commemorates the Eucharist with representation of the authorities, clergy and different religious and civil institutions.

The day before the Corpus Christi procession, the center of Sevilla becomes even more lively and you can visit the Cathedral to see the custody and different parts of the procession, as well as attend concerts downtown. During the next 7 days you can admire one of the oldest and most peculiar Corpus Christi traditions of Sevilla: the Dance and the Song of the Six. We recommend you stroll down the streets of the itinerary, especially Francos and Sierpes, to see the altares and street decorations. There are usually concerts in different squares and streets of the city and you will hear the bells of the beautiful Giralda.
