Teatro Real turns into the meeting place and world epicenter for opera with the 1st ever edition of the World Opera Forum, an international conference for opera experts and lovers. On this occasion, the World Opera Forum looks ahead in time as it debates the future of the opera in a globalized world. Teatro Real in Madrid was the motivator for the First Meeting of Iberoamerican Theatres in 2015 and now it reaffirms its commitment in convening this international conference of theaters and lyrical festivals, drawing on the strategic role it plays between Europe and America. World Opera Forum brings together the associations of Opera Europa, Opera America and Ópera Latinoamericana (OLA) along with representatives from Africa, Asia and Oceania, in total there will be 300 professionals form 38 countries.
There will be 4 principal themes at World Opera Forum: Cultural Heritage, New Operas, Diversity and Sponsorship. Each topic will be introduced by a series of short presentations that will serve to encourage discussions amongst a group of 12 delegates from different areas of the opera (managers, composers, stage directors, artistic directors, interpreters etc.) moderated by an expert.
