Mobile World Congress is approaching, therefore Mobile World Capital has launched Mobile Week Barcelona, a new initiative that proposes a vision on mobile transformation and mobile technology in the city, in an event that takes place between 20 and 26 February with activities in the 10 Districts of Barcelona.
Mobile Week Barcelona has been conceived as a meeting point between the world of entrepreneurialism and digital industry and the world of thinking and creative industries. Moreover, Mobile Week Barcelona is offering free activities at 60 facilities around the city from 20 to 26 February and will be developed in more than 60 cultural and scientific facilities, innovation spaces, research centers and universities, among others.
The week includes a programme of ten discussions, featuring entrepreneurs, artists, professors, thinkers, creators, scientists and representatives from the Mobile World Capital Barcelona foundation. There will also be visits to ten creations by ten artists, who will be explaining how they see the future of the digital transformation from an artistic perspective. Their works will be on display at facilites and entities around Barcelona’s ten districts.
As a city project, Mobile Week Barcelona was born aiming to see and show from a citizen´s point of view the challenges, limits and opportunities of the digital revolution in which we are immersed. For this reason, it will bring together many artists, scientists, thinkers, engineers, entrepreneurs and professionals from the cultural industry, totally free and open for all the citizens.
We are facing a transgressor project that mixes the latest technological advances with artistic visions, all from emblematic places of the city. For his part, Jaume Collboni, deputy mayor of the company, Culture and Innovation, explains that "with this initiative we take a first step to make a great city congress on mobile technology in which citizens, entrepreneurs and artists are involved." Collboni marked that this event wants to take a chance of the positioning of Barcelona as the fifth digital city in Europe and "aims to extend the city to ten districts and ten themes, to bring mobile technology closer to the citizens and bring in value the network of cultural and scientific equipment of first level."
To summarize the event during these 6 days, ten itineraries will take citizens to the most important places in the city for creativity, innovation, digital culture, technology and thinking.
