On March 19 (Sunday), a festive and solidarity event will take place in Sevilla, being called "Colors against violence". This event is taking place in several Spanish cities and has a very clear purpose: to make visible the commitment to gender equality and the total elimination of mistreatment. All of it will be shown with the so called "showers of colours", colored powders thrown in the air
The initiativeof the festival is a part of the United Nations´ UNITE campaign, which aims to make society aware of gender-based violence and contribute to the achievement of equity between men and women. In the words of Silvia Hernández, the coordinator of the initiative, "the event will use different colors to make visible the objectives that have to be achieved. It is a celebration full of joy of life that puts the focus on the right of all human beings to seek their happiness. We want men and women to use their equality status to be happy as they want. "
The marathon of colors in Sevilla will not be competitive, but you can go running at any pace, walking or even dancing. The finish area will be at the Estadio de la Cartuja and the distance will be about 5 kilometers. The tour will have 4 seasons of color that represent the eradication of mistreatment, gender equality, conciliation and the rights to be happy. Moreover, there will be various activities such as storm of colors, music, a festival of zumba and various actions made to raise awareness about gender violence and the importance of equality.
The goal of the event is to become a great experience to share with your family and friends. All the benefits recieved will go entirely to prevention and sensitization projects against gender violence and to support women who are suffering from it in Spain and in developing countries.
Everyone can participate, regardless of age or gender, by registering on the official website. All participants will be given an official T-shirt, a commemorative tie, a bag with colored powders and the "016" number (free phone number for victims of abuse). As the date approaches, prices will rise, so hurry up and get your tickets as soon as possible! The participant´s kit can be picked up at the Nervión Plaza shopping center on Friday 17th of March and Saturday 18th of Marc from 15 to 21 hours.
